It is beautiful... and strengthens abdominal and pelvic muscles

In the Middle East, for centuries girls have been getting accustomed to belly dance from their early childhood, training their abdominal muscles in preparation for child delivery, for Arabian women have always known that trained abdominal muscles are the best pain prevention means. What could be more beautiful than creating a special dance for this purpose? During pregnancy, a woman dances with other women in sacred ceremonies and prepares to deliver a child. One of the main advantages of belly dance is that it helps to have easy delivery and to get back into shape quickly after that. Royal bearing, light and graceful step and feminine figure – all this can be acquired through practicing belly dance.

Belly dance is not only elegant and sensual, but also very plastic, demonstrating all the grace and beauty of a female body.

Meditation in movement and deep inward relaxation...

To be tender and self-confident, to feel herself comfortable in her own body, to move fluently and gracefully, a woman needs to be relaxed, uninhibited and aware of her inner freedom. Until recently, belly dance has been performed only to life music. Most oriental musicians widely use improvisations. Although they possess rich repertory of ready songs, they play one and the same song differently each time. Just like jazz musicians, they play jam for which they need to feel each other as well as the party mood, and to be able to move from one improvisation on to the other fluently. Here relaxation is necessary. A dancer should also feel musicians, and she should be relaxed as well. We must be able to feel the mood of a moment, and this cannot be achieved without relaxation.

Belly dance is a good therapy, a meditation in movement. Modern life is full of stresses affecting our body and causing various sicknesses. Muscle tenseness can result in anything starting from back and chest pain up to problems with shoulders, neck and arms. Try to relax during belly dance class, and you will feel yourself much better and, moreover, you’ll avoid possible injuries.

Belly dance movements require strength and flexibility, but they can look nice only if performed in relaxation. Movements must be natural, taking place as if by themselves…
